With Christmas just a week away, many of us already have our houses decorated, our offices decorated, and our trees are trimmed, but how many of us have our vehicles decorated! While not all of our staff participates in decorating our vehicles, we all have our favourites that we’ve seen on the road.
We’re looking at some of our favourite holiday vehicle decorations this week, with a special photo gallery of Instructor vehicles that have been decorated in years’ past!
Antenna Toppers & Air Fresheners
Some of the easiest ways to turn your ride into a sleigh is to hang a seasonally themed air freshener from the rear view mirror throughout the month or attach a topper to your antenna! You can find them in all kinds of holiday scents like Royal Pine, Cinnamon Apple, and Spice Market. And if you aren’t a fan of air fresheners, you can also take one of your favourite Christmas tree ornaments and hang it there instead! You can also find antenna toppers in all your favourite Christmastime characters like Jack Skellington, Santa, Frosty, and the whole winterland gang!
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Ranger
While throwing an air freshener up to make our vehicles smell like a Christmas tree was a favourite thing for everyone to do, the most popular decoration across Valley’s staff was definitely dressing up vehicles like one of Santa’s reindeer. You can find variations of the classic antlers and red nose everywhere, including some that come with light-up antlers, or a tail to stick in your trunk, and even antlers with jingle bells attached. If you need to add some glitz to your reindeer, you can get sequined antlers to put up. As you cruise to and from work, you can imagine that you have the most important job of all - guiding Santa’s sleigh through a foggy winter night!
Seasonal Seat Covers
Protect your seats and share your festive mood at the same time! There are many seasonal seat covers out there, ranging from ones as simple as red and green plaid and others as festive as Santa faces all over the place! While seat covers may be a bit more time-consuming to install than an antenna topper or hang a festive air freshener, it will certainly increase the festive feeling as you cruise around during December!
Trunk-Trapped Legs
Although these decorations may not be to everyone’s jolly idea of the holidays these floating legs of elves, Santa, and even the Grinch are sure to get a laugh as you’re driving around time getting your Christmas shopping done! Setup is fast and easy, although if you’re in and out of your rear door or trunk very frequently you’ll need to make sure they don’t fall out and walk away without you…
Christmas Lights?
One decoration that you might think is missing from our list is simple string lights. While many people see this as their favourite decoration for the holiday season, and we say go for it on your house and trees, putting strings of lights onto your vehicle is not only unsafe but also illegal. Under Division 4 of the Motor Vehicle Act, it is clearly stated:
General lighting requirements
4.02 (1 )A vehicle on a highway must only be equipped with and use lamps, reflectors or other illuminating devices authorized by this Division.
Christmas string lights are not included in approved lights and could result in a ticket, but they can also lead to confusion for other drivers who may not recognize the lights for festive decorations and instead may think you are trying to communicate something else.
Instructor Vehicle Photo Gallery
We always look forward to our Instructors getting into the festive spirit, and they get to show off their vehicle decorations all around town! Check out some of our Instructors from this year and past, as they enjoy the holidays.
