Sharing the Road with Crossing Guards

When you drive through a school zone, there is a high likelihood of seeing a crossing guard somewhere along the way. Crossing guards have a responsibility to ensure children are safe when navigating through an increased amount of traffic, as well as to keep traffic flowing during those extra busy times of day. They can be adults or kids, and will be seen in reflective safety vests and are often carrying a stop sign, like construction zone flaggers, to aid them in controlling traffic.

Sharing The Road With Wildlife

Whether you’re a hunter, or photographer, or just an observer, seeing animals in their natural habitat is a wonderful treat when travelling. But what do you do when you don’t see them and all of a sudden one is in your path?! Here are some of our tips on how to safely share the road with wildlife big and small. Know the risks, plan your routes, and most importantly, be prepared!

Sharing the Road with Buses

Now that school is back in session, bus ridership has increased and you’re more likely to encounter buses on your daily drive. We share the roadway with a number of different buses including city buses, accordion buses, cable buses, HandyDART buses, special activity buses, coach and tour buses, and school buses! Where you live greatly influences which type of bus you will likely come into the most contact with, but regardless of where you live and what type of bus you see most often, the rules and regulations surrounding them remain constant.

Sharing the Road with Emergency Vehicles

Emergency services are instrumental to healthy and safe communities. As a driver, we will encounter the flashing lights or sirens of an emergency vehicle during our commute. The flashing lights, loud sirens, and enhanced stress and adrenaline of an emergency situation may cause confusion, so knowing the rules and regulations when encountering emergency vehicles, will ensure everyone’s safety.

"A special “Thank You” to you. From what I was told, you never let my daughter put her guard down. Good for you.

I appreciate all the hard work and dedication you’ve given to my daughter. I will recommend Valley Driving School to as many people as I can.

Again, “Thank You” to everyone. Who knows…maybe my daughter will be back for other types of drivers training ie: motorcycle, standard, or even semi-trucks. Could happen. She ‘loves’ to drive.

Best regards"
